Tom Petrie’s Reminiscences Of Early Queensland (Constance Campbell Petrie) $3 PB VGC (Minor tanning) The reminiscences of Tom Petrie concerning early Queensland, first appeared in the “Queenslander” in the form of articles, many of which referred to the Aboriginal people in those days. These articles were then recorded and published by his daughter, Constance Campbell Petrie, in 1904. The Mighty Murray (John Nicholson) $6 HB EC (Ex lib) Nicholson takes us on an epic journey from the spring on a mountainside high in the Snowy Mountains where the Murray begins, down its winding length through three states to its mouth at the Coorong in South Australia. This book covers the history, myths and stories of the Murray, starting with the stories of the many Murray River Aborigine clans, looking at the colonial steamboat days, the Snowy River Dam Scheme, and the present problems of low flow and salination. This is an ambitious book that Nicholson has pulled off very well. There is a huge amount of information here in a very readable, well illustrated format.
